Dyscordia: Twin symbiosis
04/04/13 || Lord K Philipson
When I hear the term “progressive” I think of Dream Theater first and foremost. They sure inserted some fresh thinking into music back in the day, yes? Dyscordia is not Dream Theater, nor do I think they want to be. I guess they’re more interested in coming off as some really technical band with power metal influences, growls and clean vocals from some fucko who believes he’s Rob Halford and Geoff “Vest” Tate reincarnated.
Sure, Dyscordia’s got some decent things going on once every third week, but the whole mixture of styles isn’t really cutting it as a whole. One second they play some half-brutal, groovy, almost death metalish thing, just to make a move over to some incredibly misplaced power metal chorus-thingie the next. Dyscordia feels disorientated. Pretty much like Yours Truly after going thru this album.
3,5/10: Ease up on the inclusion of 5 million genres and you’ll fare better next time. Maybe.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
